Emirates Motor Company – the sole distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Abu Dhabi – held a media event for the sneak preview of the all-new Mercedes AMG GTS at the EMC showroom.
The short and sweet event was basically to show off Merc’s two prized possessions – the GTS and their winning F1 drivers i.e. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg (1st and 2nd position respectively in the 2014 F1 season).
After a quick chat with the F1 champs, it was time to check out the car.
The AMG GTS – in my opinion – is what the SLS could never be i.e. a true sports car. The GTS is a purpose-built sports car set to rival the likes of the 911, with a touch of beauty. Some quick facts about the car:
- Handbuilt AMG 4.0 biturbo V8
- 503 BHP and 650 Nm of torque
- 0-100 in 3.8 seconds
- Top speed of 310 kmph
- 7 speed dual clutch transmission
- Dynamic suspension
- Paddle shifts
- Nappa leather
- Safety tech including collision prevention, adaptive braking, attention assist, parking sensors and camera with blind spot and lane assists.
The AMG GTS is scheduled to be available in UAE early next year.
