Introduction to the RB17
Red Bull Advanced Technologies, the offshoot of the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team, has announced the launch of a monstrous hypercar named the RB17 in 2025. Avid petrolheads will remember that Red Bull and Aston Martin previously collaborated on the Valkyrie, with Adrian Newey leading the design—a prized asset known for his iconic contributions to many legendary F1 cars.
Development of the RB17
After the two entities split in 2021, Aston Martin continued the Valkyrie project in-house. However, Adrian Newey embarked on a new venture to create an extraordinary hypercar solely with Red Bull Advanced Technologies.
Unveiling the RB17
F1 fans were surprised at the start of the season when Red Bull named its 2022 challenger the RB 18, leaving many to wonder about the absence of the RB17 nameplate. Now, with new information emerging, Christian Horner and Adrian Newey have revealed exciting details about the hypercar.
Specifications of the RB17
Red Bull has released an outline sketch of the RB17, announcing that the hypercar will feature:
- A carbon-composite tub
- A powerful 1,100bhp hybrid V8 engine
- The most advanced ground effect package available in a series production car
Notably, the RB17 will not be road legal, allowing Adrian Newey to fully unleash his imagination and design one of the most lethal hypercars ever made.
Comments from Leadership
Christian Horner, CEO of Red Bull Racing and Red Bull Advanced Technologies, stated: “The RB17 marks an important milestone in the evolution of Red Bull Advanced Technologies, now fully capable of creating and manufacturing a series production car at our Red Bull Technology Campus. Further, the RB17 marks the first time that a car wearing the Red Bull brand has been available to collectors.”
Adrian Newey added: “Driven by our passion for performance at every level, the RB17 pushes design and technical boundaries far beyond what has been previously available to enthusiasts and collectors.”
Production Details
Just 50 examples of the RB17 will be built at Red Bull's facility in Milton Keynes, England. Each car will cost £5 million (plus applicable local taxes), with production slated to begin in 2025.
