Rally Jameel: Saudi Arabia's First Women-Only Motorsport Event

Introduction

Saudi Arabia’s first-ever women-only motorsport event, Rally Jameel, is gaining interest from women all over the region, and time is running out to take part in the event.

Event Details

The Rally Jameel has been sanctioned by the Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) and supported by the FIA through their Women in Motorsport (WIMC) program. The rally will not measure speed; instead, it will test the navigation skills of the participants as they cover between 300-500 km per day. The most exciting aspect of the event is that the route for the next day will only be issued the night before, adding an element of suspense regarding the rally's next destination.

Participation Criteria

Since its announcement, the rally has gained interest from women across Saudi Arabia. Women aged over 18 and holding a driving license are allowed to participate. Each team in the rally will consist of two women drivers using totally unmodified 4x4 vehicles.

Safety Measures

To ensure safety, all vehicles will be equipped with a tracking system featuring SOS buttons for emergencies. Additionally, there will be a helicopter medic and maintenance team ready at all stages of the rally.

Response and Registration

“We have been really delighted with the response from women around the region and beyond, with over half of the places already filled,” commented Abdullah Bakhashab, rally director. “But I also know there will be potential racers out there who want to take part but haven’t signed up yet. We urge them to submit their application as soon as possible, as there are only a limited number of spaces left.”
