Tragic Incident

A 3-year-old boy tragically passed away after being left inside a car in temperatures reaching 43°C. His family, originally from Yemen, returned to the vehicle after three hours only to find him unconscious.

Details of the Incident

The young child was discovered unresponsive inside the family car and was subsequently transported to Al Dhaid Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death was determined to be a lack of oxygen due to extreme heat.

Reactions

Major General Nasser Al Neyadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Child Protection, stated that leaving unmonitored children in vehicles is a clear indication of parental negligence and a serious misjudgment of potential dangers.

Advice for Parents

He further emphasized the need for parents to exercise greater caution regarding their children, especially during the sweltering summer months when temperatures can be particularly hazardous.

Warnings from Medical Experts

Dr. Fakhri Azzam, a pediatrician at the Medcare Medical Centre in Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai, explained that children trapped inside vehicles can face life-threatening conditions within just 10 to 20 minutes of being left unattended in the heat.
