The Ministry of Interior has announced that it will implement strict measures against drivers who fail to yield to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police cars, and official convoys in the United Arab Emirates.

Details of Fines and Penalties

Under these new measures, violating drivers will face a fine of 3,000 AED and receive six black points on their driving record. Additionally, their vehicle will be confiscated for 30 days if they do not yield to emergency vehicles.

Objective of the Measures

This initiative, which will take effect starting July 1, 2019, aims to improve road safety and traffic conditions while reducing the number of fatalities caused by traffic accidents.

Patrols to Monitor Violations

The Ministry of Interior has announced that it will deploy unmarked patrols to monitor violations against emergency and official vehicles using its smart systems and cameras installed on the roads.

Warnings and Guidelines

The Ministry of Interior emphasizes that road users must heed the sirens of emergency vehicles and recognize the lights of emergency cars to give them priority on the road.
