In our test drive, we got our hands on the R-Design version, which came with sleek black accents along its exterior and beautiful 21-inch wheels.
The XC40's design avoids the strange angles often found in compact cars, preserving Volvo's signature styling. In my opinion, it is the best-looking car among its competitors.
Interior Design
As an automotive journalist, I have driven many cars, and it is rare for me to experience a vehicle that makes me say "wow." However, the XC40 is truly different from anything else I've driven.
Volvo's design elevates the standard by thinking outside the box. For instance, the absence of speakers in the doors creates extra storage space. The doors now feature ample room to fit a laptop or three water bottles.
The materials used in the interior design are of high quality, with fabrics made from recycled materials, making it distinct from any other vehicle.
The overall design is simple and organized, with just seven buttons on the dashboard, making the entertainment system easy and comfortable to control.
Technological Features
The Volvo XC40 offers an impressive array of technological features. For example, the air conditioning system comes with integrated speakers that provide a 360-degree audio experience.
The car also includes a surround-view monitoring system with a bird’s-eye view feature, making parking easier and safer.
In terms of safety, the vehicle is equipped with numerous airbags and assist systems. One of the standout features is "City Safe," which acts as extra eyes on the road.
Driving Experience
The Volvo XC40 T5 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, generating 250 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, making it powerful among its rivals.
