Warnings from Dr. Hashim Al-Nuaimi
Dr. Hashim Al-Nuaimi, Director of Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy, has issued strong warnings against purchasing vehicles from unauthorized sellers and dealers.
The Importance of Contracts in the Purchase Process
Al-Nuaimi stated in an interview with the Gulf Times that buying a car without essential contracts can result in consumers losing their guaranteed rights related to warranties, which are protected by specific laws and regulations.
Consumer Complaints
He added that the ministry has received numerous complaints from consumers who were misled by unauthorized car dealerships into purchasing used cars without proper guarantees. Many later discovered significant defects in the vehicles, leading to rejection by traffic departments due to irreparable faults.
Dealership Refusal to Repair
Al-Nuaimi also mentioned additional complaints from buyers stating that dealerships refused to repair their vehicles, claiming that the owners did not bring their cars in for scheduled inspections. This led dealerships to classify their cases as misuse rather than manufacturing defects.
