New Audi A6 Review: Design, Interiors, and Performance
By now, we are used to Audi making radical changes to their new cars, but on the surface, they look very similar to the old ones. It happened with the A8, and now it has occurred with the A6. Behold the new Audi A6.
Design
Following their age-old mantra that design should be evolutionary rather than revolutionary, the new Audi A6 may look quite similar to its predecessor. However, it is not complicated to differentiate between the old and new models, and I will help you through it.
The Profile:
The overall shape of the car remains very similar; however, it is a bit more squarish, aggressive, and taut compared to the previous A6. If I may dare to say, it even looks a bit sportier.
When viewed from the three-quarter profile, the car appears eager to sprint and race ahead, which is always a good sign.
The Front:
The new Audi A6 features the 3D grille introduced in the A8 and Q8, along with HD Matrix LED headlights that give the A6 its distinctive look from the front. These headlights are a signature characteristic, and when you see them in your rearview mirror, you know the car on your tail is an Audi A6.
While the sides do not have definitive features, the rear boasts new signature LED taillights that look impressive. I often feel that the new Lexus ES resembles the A6 from the side and back, or perhaps it is the other way around.
Interiors
Audi interiors are a topic of conversation for anyone who asks, "How is your new car?"
The interiors of the A6 can be a cause of confusion, as they are almost identical to those of the A8. When comparing the A6 to the Q8, A8, and A7, the only noticeable differences are a few buttons for managing functions in the A6, whereas the other models are entirely digital. Additionally, the A8 features a smartphone-like controller for back seat controls. Essentially, the A6 provides many features of its more expensive siblings at a lower price.
The quality, design, and finish of the interiors are excellent, making it something to be proud of as an Audi owner.
Equipment
Audi has priced the A6 around AED 355,000 or USD 97,000, which is quite a sum for a mid-range executive saloon car. However, it does not skimp on options.
This particular model comes fully loaded with every option and safety feature imaginable.
There are so many features to list that you might get bored reading them. In case you start playing Fortnite, note that the A6 has air suspension for a super comfortable ride.
For those curious about the specifications, here is a photograph of the spec sheet:
Engine & Handling
The Audi A6 comes equipped with a V6 engine producing 340 HP and 500 NM of torque. This engine is also used in the A8, A7, and Q8, proving that Audi is taking the A6 as seriously as its flagship models. The car also features a mild hybrid system.
If you are considering options like the A7 or A8, the A6 is worth a look. Not only will you save money, but you will also receive many features available in its larger and more expensive counterparts.
While the A6 is quick, it is not a sports car. It accelerates in a dignified manner, making it an excellent long-distance cruiser. With QUATTRO and four-wheel steering, you always feel you have the necessary grip.
The four-wheel steering enhances agility and reduces the turning radius. While you might expect the A7 to be sportier, the A6 actually proves to be more dynamic.
Verdict
The Audi A6 is all the car you would ever need. It offers ample power, safety features, luxury, and technology. With brilliant suspension and supreme comfort, it is the perfect car for covering long distances.
For 99.99% of car buyers out there, everything I mentioned above is more than sufficient. Audi has gone above and beyond to offer everything you could want and more.
However, personally, I find it not engaging enough to drive. Audi, please implement autonomous driving in this car ASAP so I can get back to watching Netflix.
