Overview of the Future Mobility Conference
The Future Mobility Conference, held under the Patronage of H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin-Fahad, aims to bring automotive manufacturers, visionary leaders, and technology connoisseurs together.
In its second iteration, the conference attracted crowds from across the globe and featured brands such as BMW, Lexus, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
This event supports Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to have 25% of transportation automatized by the year 2030. Below is a list of vehicles at the forefront of innovation.
Innovative Vehicles Showcased
1. BMW i3
The BMW i3 is a futuristic vehicle that avoids the pod-like exterior common in technologically advanced vehicles. It is BMW’s first zero emissions mass-produced vehicle, featuring carbon-fiber reinforced polymers and a 33-kWH battery pack. The i3 offers a New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) range of up to 300 kilometers.
2. Lexus GS Hybrid
The Lexus GS Hybrid features subtle aesthetic changes compared to the standard vehicle, requiring keen-eyed enthusiasts to differentiate it. Powered by a combination of an electric motor and a conventional engine, it boasts a horsepower of 338 and a remarkable fuel economy of just 6.9 liters/100 km.
3. Nerve Street Racer
The Nerve Street Racer MC, designed by Nerve, is a high-performance bike that accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 1.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 300 km/h, and it is also driverless!
4. Toyota Mirai
The Toyota Mirai translates to 'Future' in Japanese. This Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) was unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show and features an output power density of 3.0 kW/L. With two 70 MPa high-pressure hydrogen tanks, the Mirai delivers an approximate range of 700 km.
5. Volkswagen Golf GTE
The Volkswagen Golf GTE is a visually striking plug-in hybrid, featuring a 204-horsepower engine that consumes only 1.5 liters/100 km, which equates to an impressive 939 kilometers per tank of fuel!
