2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: The Epitome of Luxury
Since its market launch in 2015, approximately 60,000 examples of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class have been delivered worldwide. Today, the German automaker makes a bold statement to continue its success story with an all-new model. Longer, wider, and indefinitely more luxurious than the outgoing model, the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is set for its Middle East debut with customers expected to receive their cars in August 2021.
Unmatched Comfort and Luxury
With a wheelbase that is 18cm longer than the outgoing model, rear passenger space remains unmatched. To enhance the sense of quietness and luxury within the cabin, the vehicle features an "active noise compensation" system that produces counter-phased audio signals to cancel road noise before it is heard by occupants.
Executive Seating
The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class comes equipped with twin executive seats that offer a new massage function for your calves. Standard equipment includes:
- Individual adjustments for the backrest
- Leg rest for a comfortable recline
Engine Options
Depending on the market, customers will have the option to choose between two engine configurations:
- Twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8: Producing 496 horsepower with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
- V-12 powered S650: Twin-turbo 6.0-liter engine producing 621 horsepower.
- Future markets may also offer a plug-in hybrid version featuring a 3.0-liter straight-six petrol engine paired with an electric motor to produce a combined output of 503 horsepower.
Attention to Detail
Being a Maybach, the optional two-tone paint finish with a dividing line that splits the body horizontally is applied by hand, with the entire process said to take up to a week. The attention to detail continues with:
- Electronically operated rear doors
- All-new MBUX Interior Assist allowing occupants to open and close blinds or switch on reading lights using gesture controls
- Automatic multispot lighting in dark areas of the cabin
Innovative Features
To offer unmatched luxury, the all-new model is armed with a ‘Maybach’ mode on the air suspension, making every journey noticeably smoother and more comfortable than the standard S-Class. When switched on, the system adjusts:
- Smoother acceleration through the accelerator pedal
- Transmission starting off in second gear
- Active steering system enabling rear-wheel steering of up to 10 degrees for greater maneuverability
The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is also equipped with Level 3 driver assistance systems, allowing drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel in heavy traffic or on selected highways, enabling the car to navigate itself safely and confidently.
