Dorcen G70S Review: A Competitive Chinese SUV
This is the Dorcen G70S, a Chinese SUV priced at 89,000 Dirhams. Today, I will explain why you should consider buying one of these over competitors in the same price range. Sit back, relax, and let’s get started.
Drive
If you follow our reviews closely, you may remember our review of the Dorcen Domy X7 (watch Domy X7 review here). The G70S is a replacement for that model. Its competitors include the Changan CS35 and the Haval H6 (watch our Haval H6 review here), but the G70S has unique features.
The G70S is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine sourced from Mitsubishi, delivering 188 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Notably, it is the first Chinese car equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission that channels power to the front wheels.
Additionally, its chassis has been calibrated by MIRA, a British company known for working with luxury brands like Bentley, Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes-Benz. But how does the G70S feel to drive?
The steering is light, ensuring easy control, while the soft suspension offers comfort. With maximum torque available from just 2,400 RPM, it never feels slow or underpowered. Averaging 8.8 liters per 100 kilometers, the G70S is also quite efficient.
Interior
The interior features brushed metal and piano black trim, giving it a premium SUV feel. The sense of luxury is enhanced with leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a rotary gear selector that rises from the center console.
In the rear, there is ample headroom and legroom, and the seats recline, comfortably accommodating three adults. Additionally, there are two USB ports and AC vents with individual temperature controls for front passengers.
Features
As expected from a Chinese SUV, the G70S is loaded with features, including:
- Full-length panoramic roof
- 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat
- 4-way power-adjustable passenger seat
- Cruise control
- Fully digital instrument cluster display
- 10.2-inch infotainment screen
On the safety front, it includes parking sensors at the front and rear, 360-degree cameras, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring. Its standout feature is the night vision assist, which helps prevent accidents in poorly lit areas.
Exterior
The G70S boasts an attractive design, drawing inspiration from various brands. The grille resembles that of a Lexus, the LED headlights echo a Toyota, and the overall silhouette bears similarities to an Audi. Yet, the final product is visually appealing.
For those not fond of the white exterior, the G70S is available in blue, black, or grey. It features 19-inch alloy wheels that fill the arches elegantly. With a boot space of 600 liters (expandable to 1,650 liters with the rear seats folded), practicality is also a priority.
Verdict
The Dorcen G70S is an SUV that looks great, is well-built, and packed with features. Priced at 89,000 Dirhams including VAT and accompanied by a 5-year/150,000-kilometer manufacturer warranty, it offers excellent value for money.
