Audi Middle East held an exclusive event in Abu Dhabi for the official launch of the all-new R8 as well as the R Sport brand in the Middle East. The theme behind this event was thrill and sportiness to capture the true essence of the Audi brand – the brand which is synonymous with wins in LeMans as well as the rally circuit. So, what better way to celebrate that heritage than giving the glimpse of their new hero – the Audi R8 – at the Yas Marina Circuit? This platform is the perfect way to unleash the brand’s potential and show the people where it is going in the future.

Well, first things first, the commute to the event was definitely a challenge in itself as all of us were braving the thunderstorm that overshadowed Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Flooded roads, broken down cars and a LOT of traffic was just the tip of the iceberg. We were lucky enough to reach just on time, but the rest took their sweet time to wiggle through the tsunami. Once we all reached, we were greeted by Janice Hinson and her team followed by a lovely dinner to end the hectic day at the St Regis hotel.
Next morning it was an early departure from the hotel to the Yas Marina Circuit for the briefing. The event mainly comprised of two things, the Audi R Sport introduction to the region (you can read more about it here) and hitting the track inside the new Audi R8 (you can read more about it here). Overall, it was long yet satisfying day of learning and testing one’s driving skills and trying to push the car to the limits. We all managed to receive a certificate of appreciation for completing the course on the track with the R8. Then it was time to say farewell and head back to the drenched roads but thankfully the roads weren’t flooded any more so that was a satisfying end indeed.
