2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Launch in UAE
The new 2015 C-Class has been officially launched in the UAE by Emirates Motor Company, Abu Dhabi, and is set to roll out across showrooms in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other GCC countries. This aluminum hybrid C-Class is 100 kilos lighter compared to its predecessor. The wheelbase has increased by 80 mm, length by 95 mm, and width by 40 mm, resulting in a noticeable increase in interior space, addressing our biggest complaint when we test drove the C-Class last year. It seems Mercedes has been listening closely! While the exterior has been sharpened for a more sporty look, the real innovations are in the interior and safety offerings that have been passed on from the success of the S-Class.
Almost all new innovations from the S-Class have been transferred to the new C-Class, including the Intelligent Drive system highlighted in our video when we drove the S-Class. One of the coolest innovations is the Arabic supported touchpad that operates all functions in a smartphone-like manner. Additionally, the touchpad recognizes handwritten instructions. Standard driving assistance systems include Attention Assist, which warns the driver of fatigue, along with Collision Prevention Assist. This system also includes autonomous braking at speeds of up to 200 km/h, a feature we last saw in the Infiniti Q50 earlier this year. The system is capable of braking in response to stationary vehicles at speeds of up to 50 km/h and can prevent rear-end collisions at up to 40 km/h.
