Introduction
Welcome to our latest report on the all-new 2017 Honda Civic 1.6L DX Plus. After my colleagues Zaran, Anas, and Sana tested it over the past three weeks, it’s my turn to share my insights and experiences with this vehicle.
The Civic name has been around since 1972, and in the fourth week, I had the chance to test the tenth generation of this iconic car, the 2017 Honda Civic, one of the key models in Honda's lineup.
Compact Sedan Category
The Honda Civic falls under the compact sedan category, which I believe is one of the most competitive segments in the global market for two main reasons:
- Strong competition from well-equipped Chinese cars.
- Significant population growth and a shift in consumer preferences towards SUVs and crossovers.
The complexities continue to rise, as the price difference between crossovers and sedans is often minimal, leading many consumers to opt for crossovers.
Let's explore why the 2017 Honda Civic won the award for Best Compact Sedan at the Middle East Car of the Year Awards 2017.
Exterior Design
The 2017 Honda Civic competes with strong rivals like the Nissan Sentra and Toyota Corolla, standing out with its distinctive exterior design. The exterior of the 2017 Honda Civic features a bold and modern design, coupled with a dynamic shape.
At the rear, you’ll notice that Honda has adopted a design that is not common among sedans in this category, successfully changing the general perception of regular sedans.
Interior Design
I must say I was conflicted regarding the interior of the 2017 Honda Civic. I believe the simple interior design doesn’t quite match its modern and bold exterior.
When I first sat in the seats, I expected them to be softer and more accommodating; while they feel firm initially, you do get used to them.
Driving Experience
I had the opportunity to drive the 2017 Honda Civic for over a week, and I must say I really enjoyed it.
The only downside was its rather dull transmission; it’s equipped with a CVT that leaves you somewhat dissatisfied.
Conclusion
The 2017 Honda Civic is positioned as an affordable sedan. If you’re looking to buy a new sedan with impressive features priced under AED 70,000, I highly recommend considering this fantastic vehicle.
In conclusion, if I were to describe the 2017 Honda Civic in a few words, I would say it’s a car that is reliable, enjoyable to drive, beautifully designed, and fuel-efficient.
