2017 Honda CR-V: Design and New Specifications
Launch and Design
The fifth generation of the Honda CR-V was unveiled to a group of executives and media representatives from across the country at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Ras Al Khaimah. The 2017 Honda CR-V is available in four impressive trims:
- DX
- LX
- EX
- Touring
Expectations and Sales
The new design is expected to surpass the 5,050,000 units sold globally in 2016, with the 2017 CR-V offered in nine interior colors and two design formats, featuring standard LED daytime running lights and turn signals. The bold design includes new wide bumpers, a longer wheelbase, and wider wheel tracks.
Performance and Engine
Equipped with a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine, the CR-V generates 184 horsepower and 244 Nm of torque. The engine incorporates a direct fuel injection system, providing the best fuel efficiency in its class at 15.5 km per liter. The engine is paired with a CVT transmission akin to a seven-speed automatic gearbox, allowing it to compete strongly against rivals such as Toyota RAV4, Nissan X-Trail, and Hyundai Tucson.
Technology and Features
Emphasizing its five-star safety rating, the exterior is constructed from ultra-high-strength steel and features an industry-first driver monitoring system. It comes equipped with a specially designed digital display for a clear and readable instrument panel, along with Bluetooth connectivity that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Interior Features
The vehicle targets tech-savvy young audiences, offering electric seats with eight different positions, USB ports for rear-seat passengers, an active noise cancellation system that ensures a quiet cabin, and a voice recognition system that automatically reduces the air conditioning fan to enhance audio clarity.
Pricing and Availability
The 2017 Honda CR-V is expected to arrive at dealerships by the end of this month, with rumored prices starting at 90,000 AED and above.
