Hyundai Genesis Coupe: A New Era of Luxury Performance

Introduction

Hyundai recently had a successful launch of its second-generation Genesis sedan. The new Genesis is highly praised for its beautiful styling and well-built cabin, in addition to the abundance of technology and, of course, the V8 engine. Now, as per recent news, the new Genesis Coupe will be based on the same upmarket platform as the Genesis Sedan, moving away from the affordable positioning of the previous generation.

Release Information

Expected to be released in 2017, the new Genesis Coupe will abandon the 2.0-liter engine to compete with luxury German coupes. For the first time, the Genesis Coupe will feature a V8 engine to entice performance coupe buyers. The new car will be a proper four-seater, rear-wheel-drive vehicle with an optional AWD system.

Engine Specifications

The engine options will mirror those of the Genesis sedan and will include:

• 3.8 V6: Producing 311 BHP
• 5.0 V8: Producing 420 BHP

It is anticipated that the power output could be bumped up for the coupe model, enhancing its performance capabilities further.
