Introduction
After numerous prototype images, conceptual designs, and spy photos circulating on the internet, Jaguar has unveiled its all-new fully electric I-PACE SUV. The I-PACE SUV is highly anticipated among electric vehicle enthusiasts worldwide, set to challenge the dominance of the first electric SUV, the Tesla Model X.
Technology and Performance
Ian Hoban, the Jaguar vehicle line director, stated, "We embarked on a new approach to harness the best battery technology and apply it to a high-engineering design to achieve optimal electric performance, aerodynamics, and interior space. The result is the I-PACE—the realization of Jaguar's dream of a pure electric vehicle."
Battery Specifications
The I-PACE is equipped with a 90 kWh lithium battery, allowing it to travel up to 480 km on a single charge. It can reach 80% charge in just 40 minutes using a rapid DC charger, while the same level of charge can be achieved with a home AC charger in 10 hours, making it ideal for overnight charging.
Motor Performance
The new I-PACE features advanced technology, equipped with two electric motors (with drive shafts running through the motors), each linked to an independent axle, producing a combined output of 395 horsepower and 696 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
Exterior Design
In terms of exterior design, the new electric vehicle borrows some sleek sports features from its sibling, the C-X75 supercar, incorporating a low front nose and a uniquely designed roof to enhance aerodynamics. The vehicle also balances aerodynamic designs with cooling systems, featuring electronically controlled air vents in the front grille that open when cooling is required and close at other times to optimize airflow.
Market Availability
This vehicle is expected to be a top choice for luxury electric SUV enthusiasts, with availability in the Middle East anticipated by late 2019 and almost certain by 2020.
