Launch of the Toyota Camry Hybrid in the UAE
Based on its reputation for providing eco-friendly vehicles to the citizens and residents of the UAE, Al-Futtaim Toyota has announced the launch of the all-new Toyota Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), offering individuals and businesses the opportunity to be part of the eco-friendly vehicle movement in the UAE.
History of the Toyota Camry HEV in the UAE
The Toyota Camry HEV was introduced in the UAE in 2008 in limited quantities for testing by fleet operators under local weather conditions. After surpassing expectations and demonstrating significant savings compared to its gasoline counterparts, the vehicle was officially launched in 2012 and has since transported numerous passengers across the country.
Design and Performance of the 2018 Camry Hybrid
Built on Toyota's New Global Architecture (TNGA), the 2018 Camry Hybrid can operate on electric power with zero fuel consumption and carbon emissions, or share power between its gasoline engine and two electric motors depending on speed and driving behavior. The batteries are automatically charged either by the gasoline engine or during braking and deceleration, eliminating the need for a power cord.

Commenting on the launch, Susan Kazzi, Head of Communications at Al-Futtaim Toyota, stated: "The Camry HEV has been leading the sustainable mobility movement since 2008, being the first pioneering brand in HEV technology in the UAE. With a fuel efficiency of 26 km/l, the Camry HEV performs like the gasoline-powered Camry but offers increased distance traveled and reduced fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions."
Engines and Technologies in the 2018 Toyota Camry
The Camry features a dual power source at its core, utilizing a 2.5-liter engine paired with two electric motors to generate a combined output of approximately 208 horsepower. These engines are connected to an electronically controlled CVT (e-CVT) transmission, which offers smooth and rapid gear shifts comparable to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid is available at all Al-Futtaim Toyota showrooms for AED 133,500, inclusive of VAT.
