Introduction

Following the remarkable success of the larger Cayenne SUV, Porsche decided to launch another luxury SUV to continue that success in a smaller package. In 2014, the luxury crossover Porsche Macan was introduced, built on the foundation of the Audi Q5. The name "Macan" is derived from the Indonesian word for "tiger."

Exterior Design

The Macan closely resembles its larger sibling, the Cayenne, but in a more compact form. The front of the vehicle features LED headlights, a sleek and modern hood, and a distinctive front bumper with a lower lip and LED turn signals, complemented by multiple air intakes.

The overall design reflects a sporty character, adopting aerodynamically efficient shapes. Notable features include a sloping A-pillar, a tapering roofline that enhances airflow, large 20-inch wheels, wide wheel arches, and a short overhang at both the front and rear.

At the rear, the Macan showcases a continuous line of LED taillights with the "Porsche" name centered, a rear spoiler integrated into the roof, dual sporty exhausts, and a rear diffuser seamlessly integrated with the vehicle's body.

Interior Design

Upon entering the cabin, you are immediately struck by its modern sophistication and sporty ambiance. High-quality materials and meticulous attention to detail are evident throughout. However, the vehicle's sporty exterior design has resulted in a slightly reduced interior space, accommodating only four passengers, with a cargo capacity of 500 liters.

In terms of technological features, the Macan is equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced systems, including:

  • Adaptive cruise control with radar
  • Adaptive suspension that adjusts to road conditions
  • LED headlights that turn with the steering wheel
  • Multi-zone climate control
  • Heated and cooled power seats
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Parking sensors with a 360-degree camera
  • Many other features

The safety specifications are extensive, featuring:

  • Multiple airbags throughout the cabin
  • Body roll mitigation system during turns
  • Collision monitoring system
  • Blind spot detection system
  • Lane departure warning and assistance
  • Hill descent assistance
  • And many more safety features

Engine and Performance

The 2019 Porsche Macan is available in four variants: standard, S, GTS, and Turbo. The standard version features a 4-cylinder engine, while the other three variants are equipped with V6 engines. All are paired with a 7-speed PDK automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

The standard variant comes with a 2.0-liter turbo engine that delivers 248 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, while the larger twin-turbo engine in the Macan Turbo produces 435 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque.

The Macan Turbo can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 272 km/h. Fuel consumption rates are 7.2 liters per 100 km for the standard version and 9.7 liters per 100 km for the Turbo version.

Conclusion

The price of the 2019 Porsche Macan ranges from AED 196,500 to AED 408,500, with insurance costs varying between AED 4,421 and AED 9,191.
