Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, one of the busiest roads used by commuters travelling between Dubai and Sharjah on a daily basis, is where locally devised radars have snapped 347 traffic violations in a matter of just one week.

The new radar, designed by Sharjah Police and the traffic department, was activated on August 21st and has since caught offenders committing various violations, including:
- Driving on the hard-shoulder
- Obstructing traffic
- Speeding
- Not adhering to their lane

According to Sharjah Police, a total of 10 radars have been installed in the first phase, covering areas such as:
- Ittihad Road
- Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road

Technology Behind the Radars
The new radars utilize a high-resolution camera and advanced photo/video systems, which are part of the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to decongest traffic flow by up to 30% during peak hours.
