Aston Martin has finally unveiled the all-new Valhalla, the brand’s first mid-engined series-production car. The Valhalla promises jaw-dropping performance, state-of-the-art aerodynamics, and an eco-conscious edge. Deliveries are set to begin in the latter half of 2025, marking a new chapter in the storied British automaker's legacy.
A Powertrain Like No Other
At the heart of the Valhalla is Aston Martin's most powerful V8 engine to date. The bespoke 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 churns out 817 horsepower on its own. Derived from Mercedes’ AMG GT Black Series, it has advanced turbochargers, enhanced combustion systems, and bespoke camshafts.
Three electric motors, two on the front axle and one integrated into the gearbox, form the hybrid setup with the V8. Together, they generate a combined output of 1,065 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque. The result? A 0-62 mph time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph. Bonkers.
The electric motors not only enhance performance by eliminating turbo lag, offering all-electric driving for up to nine miles, but even manage reverse duties since the car lacks a traditional reverse gear.
Cutting-Edge Aerodynamics and Dynamics
Designed with Formula 1-inspired aerodynamics, the Valhalla achieves 600 kg of downforce at 149 mph, maintaining stability and grip even at its full chat. Active aerodynamic systems, including a deployable rear wing with F1-style Drag Reduction System (DRS).
For handling, the Valhalla employs a bespoke carbon-fiber tub and state-of-the-art suspension. The front pushrod setup and rear five-link system are paired with Bilstein adaptive dampers for precision on both the track and the road. Carbon ceramic brakes and advanced torque vectoring complete the package, delivering supreme control.
The Valhalla also has an Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control (IVC). Aston says that IVC is very clever and can manage suspension, steering, brakes, and torque vectoring.
A Cabin Fit for F1 Enthusiasts
Inside, the Valhalla exudes a racing-inspired minimalism reminiscent of the Valkyrie. Recycled carbon materials, one-piece carbon seats, and raised footwells evoke the cockpit of a Formula 1 car. Dual digital displays provide critical information, including regenerative braking and EV mode stats. There are a few creature comforts on offer too like a Bowers & Wilkins stereo, satellite navigation, and Apple CarPlay.
Exclusivity and Rivals
Limited to just 999 units, the Valhalla represents a new echelon for Aston Martin. Positioned between the Lamborghini Revuelto and hypercars like the McLaren W1 and Ferrari F80, it offers a unique combination of performance, luxury, and cutting-edge technology.
