Leadership Changes at Bentley Motors

Dr. Karen Lange – New Member of the Board for Human Resources
Dr. Karen Lange succeeds Dr. Astrid Fontaine, who left Bentley Motors after over three years to join Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles as Member of the Board for Human Resources. Dr. Lange previously lectured at the University of Hanover and had a stint at the Institute of Industrial Relations at the University of Berkeley, California, USA.
Prior to her appointment at Bentley Motors, Dr. Lange joined the Volkswagen Group in 2002. Within the VW Group, she held various management positions in the Human Resources department, including:
- Head of Global Assignments (2013)
- Head of Human Resources at Volkswagen's joint venture with Northvolt Zwei GmbH & Co. KG, Salzgitter (2020)
Dr. Astrid Fontaine – Predecessor to Dr. Lange
Dr. Astrid Fontaine was Bentley’s first Member of the Board for People, Digitalization, and IT since January 2018. She transitioned from her role as Vice President of Human Resources in Culture and Innovation at Porsche North America. Dr. Fontaine also lectured at Emory University in Atlanta on digital enterprise topics.
During her tenure at Bentley Motors, she and her team focused on developing a new digital strategy, piloting various digital services, transforming business processes and customer solutions, and introducing Bentley's first digital technology apprenticeship program. Throughout the pandemic, Dr. Fontaine led the Crisis Management Team, ensuring organizational stability and spearheading sustainable luxury mobility initiatives.
