BMW Bids the 8 Series Farewell in Style with the M850i Edition M Heritage

BMW is saying goodbye to the 8 Series Gran Coupé in style with a unique limited-edition model that respects its heritage while embracing contemporary luxury.
Revealed at Pebble Beach, the 2026 M850i Edition M Heritage pays homage to the original 1990s E31 8 Series with five retro-style paint colors, personalized interior touches, and a comprehensive equipment list for collectors. Production is limited to just 500 cars.
A Palette of Memories
Purchasers get to select from five palette-perfect BMW Individual paint colors taken from the first E31: Bright Red, Mauritius Blue Metallic, Cosmos Black Metallic, Oxford Green Metallic, and Daytona Violet Metallic.

Regardless of which color is picked, it is matched with a carbon fiber roof that has M's signature tri-color stripes so the Edition M Heritage stands out both visually and historically.
Each Detail, Flawlessly Spec'd
The Edition M Heritage comes decked with the M Sport Professional package, such as M Sport brakes with black calipers, Shadowline lighting, and Shadowline trim extensions. Special 20-inch Orbit Grey 895M alloy wheels and summer performance tires round out the exterior enhancements and raise the stance of the car.

Under the hood, Heritage Meets Modern Luxury
The cabin introduces level-high exclusivity with M Sport seats clad in BMW Individual Black Full Merino Leather and Alcantara, both adorned with a diamond-stitch design and M tri-color stitching that also touches belts and door panels.

Alcantara also adorns the headliner, dashboard, and top door panels, while matte carbon fiber adorns the center console. Even little touches such as engraved "1/500" script on the cupholder and doorsill remind occupants of the model's scarcity.
Performance You Know and Love
Beneath the chiseled hood, nothing is different. The old 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 remains good for 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, accompanied by BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic.
Acceleration is still prompt, 0–60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and top speed is electronically capped at 155 mph.

Pricing and Production Timeline
The M850i Edition M Heritage begins at an MSRP of $131,575 (in the US), including destination charges, and includes the complete equipment package.
Orders are now open, with production scheduled to start in November 2025. Delivery will be in early 2026, one of the last collector models of the G16 8 Series.
