Are you an eco-enthusiast? Do you love power? If the answer is yes to both then BMW has something in store for you. The newly unveiled BMW 5 Series GT concept shown earlier this week in France boasts a plug-in hybrid powertrain which can produce a ground breaking 670 hp!
BMW’s new system called “Power eDrive” uses a 20-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery that has enough energy to power 2 electric motors. These motors work with 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It can travel 62 miles on the electric power which is magnificent.

There are also plug-in versions of the 3 Series and X5 but they use a more basic eDrive system with only one electric motor.
The sudden reveal of these prototypes gives an insight to BMWs future plans i.e. they want to increase production of newer plug-in hybrids and to make plug-in variants of all of their core models.
