When discussing luxurious German SUVs that accommodate seven passengers, Mercedes GLS, launched in 2006, and the Audi Q7, which debuted in 2005 and became available in 2006, must be mentioned. However, BMW remained absent from this competitive segment despite introducing the X5 in 1999. Now, in 2019, we finally have the BMW X7 after a 13-year wait.
Design of the BMW X7
Our test vehicle is the BMW X7 xDrive50i M Sport, featuring an exterior design that utilizes black accents instead of chrome and M Sport 22-inch wheels.
Front Design
The most striking feature of the X7 is its oversized front grille, which complements the vehicle's substantial dimensions perfectly.
Rear Design
At the rear, the BMW X7 xDrive50i M Sport boasts a distinctive bumper and large dual exhaust outlets that come with the M Sport package, featuring four outlets with active valves to adjust exhaust sound based on the driving mode.
Trunk Space
The rear trunk can be opened electrically and has a capacity of 326 liters behind the third-row seats. By pressing a button, you can fold all seats automatically to achieve a spacious storage area of up to 2120 liters, larger than the Audi Q7 but smaller than the Mercedes GLS.
Third-Row Passenger Comfort
As BMW's first seven-passenger vehicle, it offers exceptional features for third-row passengers:
- Easy access to the third row via automatic movement of the second row.
- Ample space for passengers with large windows and a full panoramic roof.
- Dedicated air conditioning vents with controls accessible from the back.

The second-row seats are equipped with a suction feature for closure, along with:

The cabin features high-quality materials, including:
- Seats upholstered in luxurious leather with massage, cooling, and heating functions.
- The dashboard and doors are covered in the same leather, complemented by a suede-covered roof.
- Wood and metal accents are incorporated into the design.
- The gear lever is made from crystal.
Performance and Driving Experience
The X7 features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces:
- 462 horsepower.
- 650 Nm of torque.
This engine allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.
