Discover the Next Generation of Ford Everest

Ford Everest

Whether you're climbing high mountains or towing a trailer, the next generation of Ford Everest comes loaded with the latest technologies that ensure you complete your mission and return safely. From specialized driving modes for various conditions to advanced vision cameras and electronically lockable rear differentials, off-road adventures are now more thrilling and realistic than ever.

Ian Fostern, the Chief Engineer for the Ford Everest platform, stated: "Everest has always delivered exceptional off-road performance, and we wanted to enhance customer confidence when venturing onto rugged paths. Therefore, we focused on providing a versatile vehicle that remains stable on all surfaces by equipping it with a suite of technologies that make it the most capable Everest model to date."

Multiple Driving Modes

With a simple twist of the dial, customers of the next generation Ford Everest can select from six driving modes designed to enhance comfort and off-road capabilities. Here’s a look at these modes:

  • Normal Mode: For daily use and suitable for general off-road conditions.
  • Eco Mode: Enhances fuel efficiency by adjusting throttle response and cruise control settings.
  • Tow/Haul Mode: Designed for towing or transporting heavy loads, optimizing gear shift timings to maintain engine power and braking capability on mountainous terrains.
  • Slippery Roads Mode: For use on hard, slippery surfaces like wet grass, optimizing engine performance and transmission to reduce wheel spin.
  • Mud/Ruts Mode: Used on off-road trails with soft, winding, or waterlogged surfaces, designed to help maintain vehicle momentum and allow some wheels to slip to clear mud from tires.
  • Sand Mode: A special setting for driving on sand and deep snow, which enhances engine power, gear shifts, and stability control to maintain vehicle momentum.

The optional driving modes work in conjunction with a variety of other technologies to enhance vehicle capabilities, such as electronically locking the rear differential via the dedicated off-road SYNC screen, hill descent control, integrated trailer brake control, and a front-view camera (if equipped) displaying the vehicle's path on a large infotainment screen.

Rob Hoog, the Ford Everest Experience Manager, expressed, "We are particularly excited about the front-view camera in the next generation Ford Everest, as we believe it will appeal to owners who love off-road adventures. Providing images that track the vehicle's path means you can navigate around or through obstacles with confidence, just like having a built-in spotter."

These new technologies are supported by a robust structure specifically designed for this purpose. The vehicle has grown longer by 50 mm, and the wheelbase has also increased by 50 mm. These enhancements are integrated to improve vehicle stability while driving on and off-road, as well as to enhance approach angles (30.4 degrees) and departure angles (25.3 degrees).

The maximum towing capacity has been supported up to 3100 kg with features such as integrated trailer brake control, trailer light check tool, and a towing accessory checklist, making the next generation Ford Everest a reliable towing vehicle. For added peace of mind, the blind spot information system helps drivers adjust their trailer size to provide extra coverage for the blind spots around the vehicle.

Advanced Four-Wheel Drive System

The next generation Ford Everest features an advanced part-time four-wheel drive system, with a two-speed transfer case and electronic control that offers 2High, 4High, and 4Low drive modes.

For the original vehicle settings, the standard drive mode is 2High, which is a good choice for regular roads. When the pavement ends, the 4High mode provides all four wheels with enhanced traction and control. For off-road trails, rocky paths, or deep sand, the 4Low mode doubles the torque to enhance low-speed control.

Ian Fostern concluded, "We really wanted to elevate the features that people love in the current Everest while adding new capabilities. Today, customers can confidently transition from city to mountains and back again, knowing they have a suite of technologies that can enhance the abilities of novice drivers and impress experienced off-roaders, all supported by a strong structure and a suspension system that enhances comfort, luxury, and safety."
