Toyota and Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo: Supporting Paralympic Athletes in Bahrain

Influential people and multinational companies often launch social campaigns to give back to society. Such philanthropic initiatives not only contribute to social good but also enhance the reputation of businesses. In line with its social responsibility goals, Toyota's distributor in Bahrain, Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo, has taken the lead by inviting Bahrain to participate in the Paralympic Games as part of Toyota's 'Start Your Impossible' campaign.

Through this initiative, Toyota and Ebrahim K. Kanoo group aim to create a mobile society grounded in the principles of sustainability and inclusivity. Ebrahim K. Kanoo has collaborated with the Bahrain National Paralympic Committee (BPC) to support the determined para-athletes participating in the Paralympic Games.

The President of the Bahraini Paralympic Committee, Sheikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, emphasized the importance of both public and private companies in fostering sports activities and integrating the People of Determination, who have demonstrated that with hard work, the impossible can be achieved.

He stated, “We are very proud to partner with Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo, one of Bahrain’s most important family businesses, as well as with Toyota, a global household name. The commitment of the private sector to encourage investment in the national sporting field aligns with the wise leadership of the nation, supported by Major General H.H Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and H.H Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.”

Mr. Talal Fuad Kanoo, the Managing Director of the Kanoo group, remarked, “We have an outstanding team of award-winning professional athletes and para-athletes in Bahrain, and partnerships like this help encourage more individuals to pursue their dreams, overcoming any obstacles they may face.”

To celebrate the para-athletes participating in the Paralympics, Sheikh Mohammed also mentioned the names of qualified athletes, highlighting that several will compete in challenging events such as the Discus Throw and Javelin Throw.

Toyota launched this campaign in 2015, which will remain active until 2024, to provide robust support to para-athletes by offering special mobility products that are safe and efficient. These include intelligent transport systems, urban traffic systems, and vehicle communication technologies. By implementing such measures, society can adopt a more egalitarian approach, providing equal opportunities for all and making the best use of talent for collective growth and development.
