Introduction
Over the course of four days and seven emirates, the Electric Vehicle Road Trip in the UAE (EVRT) aimed to raise awareness about electric cars and the numerous benefits they provide to the city.
Trip Details
Starting from the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, the journey began with a group of individuals and their electric vehicles, passing through:
- Dubai
- Sharjah
- Ajman
- Umm Al-Quwain
- Ras Al Khaimah
- Fujairah
They eventually reached the Sustainable City in Dubai. Our participation was made possible thanks to Arabian Automobiles, who provided a Renault Zoe for the YallaMotor team to embark on this journey.
Participation and Events
We were joined by Xavier Brown, Renault's Electric Vehicle Sales Manager, during the first phase of the trip, where he elaborated on the many advantages of electric cars.

- Renault Zoe and Twizy
- Volkswagen Golf 2009 Electric Station Wagon (modified)
Expert Comments
Ben Pullen, the founder and CEO of EVRT, stated: "The UAE is at a very early stage regarding the electric vehicle industry compared to European countries, for example. The number of dealers selling electric vehicles in the UAE needs to increase."
Government Initiatives
Since late 2015, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has installed 100 charging stations for electric vehicles across the emirate. The UAE trip initiative led to the installation of three additional charging stations in hotels in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Dubai.
