The Transparent Factory
The Transparent Factory, or Transparent Factory in English, is an architectural masterpiece designed by Gunter Henn and opened in 2002. This facility manufactures F-class sedans, including the luxurious Bentley Flying Spur and currently the Volkswagen Phaeton. Undoubtedly, this Transparent Factory is not just an ordinary manufacturing plant.
Design
Spanning an area of 83,000 square meters, the Transparent Factory is designed in the shape of the letter L, reminiscent of Strasbourg. The extensive use of glass plays a vital role in the factory's name, which features a high tower of 40 meters where completed vehicles are stored before being collected by customers.
Inside, which matches the exterior's splendor, approximately 24,000 square meters of parquet flooring adds a unique touch that sets it apart from any car manufacturing facility you might expect.
Attraction
Customization in production is the key focus of this Transparent Factory. For those wanting to stand out and own a distinctive vehicle, there are numerous options for leather types, trim shapes, and a wide range of colors for the car's exterior. While your car is being prepared, you can enjoy several dining options and seating areas.
A Glimpse into the Future
Approximately 140,000 visitors are welcomed to this factory each year, and exciting changes are planned for the near future to increase visitor numbers. Notably, the factory aims to showcase remarkable vehicles like the 1976 Golf, the 2001 Bora Hybrid, and the exceptional XL1.
