Reasons for Choosing the FJ Cruiser
What made you pick the FJ over the Wrangler and Ford Edge?
The 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser impresses with its power. When I accelerate, I expect an exhilarating driving experience, and the FJ delivers speed while maintaining a sense of safety.
Off-Road Capabilities
How often do you use the FJ Cruiser for off-road excursions?
I have driven it off-road on three occasions. I love that this is a genuine 4x4 off-roader with excellent off-road handling, perfectly designed for desert driving.
Aesthetic Appeal
Your opinion on FJ's looks:
The FJ Cruiser boasts a sporty yet retro look, making it both fun and rebellious. It has a strong presence on the road and serves as a style statement.
Likes: The large Toyota symbol on the grille, the lights on the wing mirrors, and the bold, larger-than-life design, including the impressive chrome alloys.
Dislikes: I wish the car had more exterior features as advertised in flashy brochures. Many opt to customize their FJ, which I am also considering.
Interior Assessment
Your take on interior:
The interior of the FJ Cruiser is not luxurious, but rather sporty and functional, featuring a large compass and waterproof fabric seats. It is designed for the rugged off-road experience, with a unique steering wheel and dashboard.
Likes: The inclusion of a large basebox in the boot caters to those who enjoy music while driving.
Dislikes: The iPod dock is cumbersome, diverting attention due to its fiddly operation when searching for songs.
Comfort: Comfort is excellent; this vehicle doesn’t aim for luxury but stays true to its rugged and sporty character.

Driving Performance
Your assessment of driving performance:
Driving around town in Dubai, the FJ Cruiser feels nimble and handles well. However, caution is needed when cornering at speed due to its grip. It’s perfect for long journeys, but the small windows and numerous blind spots require attention.
Practicality
How practical is the FJ Cruiser?
This vehicle is spacious but may not be suitable for families with young children due to its suicide doors, making it challenging to get kids in and out. It’s ideal for individuals or couples needing ample storage; as a stylist, I use the boot as my on-road wardrobe with plenty of space for additional passengers when necessary.

Areas for Improvement
What areas need improvement?
I always knew the suicide doors were a gimmick. While some may find them inconvenient, I've managed to adapt. The iPod dock also requires an upgrade; selecting tracks is tedious and distracting for drivers.
