Comprehensive Review of the New Ford Edge
The Ford Edge was the prime focus of the event, and we were among the first media members in the Middle East to test drive it in the beautiful locales of Jordan.
Exterior Design of the Ford Edge

The new Ford Edge showcases an evolution of the already popular design. It feels more rounded and urban, appealing to the urban youth demographic. The prominent Ford grille makes its debut in the Edge, contributing to a design that ultimately works well.

Interior Comfort and Features
The materials used in the Ford Edge's interior are of high quality. Initially, the Edge's first impression may not be mind-boggling, but it quickly becomes more appealing with time. The central screen is impressive, featuring many functionalities courtesy of the new Sync 2 system. However, the radio, with its perfectly round buttons, feels slightly outdated.
Notably, the Panoramic Sunroof covers almost the entire roof area, opening nearly three times the size of a traditional sunroof.

On a special note, the Edge excels in isolation. It features acoustic glass on the side and front windows for a quieter interior. The Active Noise Control is a standout feature, utilizing three microphones to detect and counteract distracting noises from the powertrain. This technology predicts noise generated during driving and responds with inaudible sound waves to ensure audio levels remain unaffected.

The new Edge is equipped with a total of 12 airbags and features Ford’s inflatable Rear Seatbelts, which may take some time to get used to. Additional safety features include:
- Collision Warning with Brake Support
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Park Assist (parallel and perpendicular parking)
- Forward and side sensing system
- Curve control
- Lane keeping aid
- Trailer sway control
The Ford Edge has been awarded 5 stars by NHTSA for its safety performance.
Driving Experience

The Ford Edge features an intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system that performs admirably. It's essential to be cautious when climbing large dunes, as the Edge might struggle; however, it excels in more casual desert driving. The AWD system offers seamless transitions between Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and AWD, enhancing traction automatically. It continuously measures road grip and adjusts power to individual wheels in under 20 milliseconds using data from 25 sensors, including wheel speed and steering angle. The steering system has been upgraded from hydraulic to electric for improved handling.
The all-new Ford Edge will offer three engine options, including:
- Standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder
- New 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6
- Normally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine
All engine options come with dual exhaust and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Verdict

Overall, the Ford Edge feels like a completely new model rather than just a marketing gimmick. As Ford's best-selling model, it now comes loaded with more technology, higher craftsmanship levels, and improved vehicle dynamics.
