Ford Mustang Celebrates Its 54th Anniversary
The legendary Ford Mustang is celebrating its 54th anniversary today, and its allure shows no signs of fading over the years. The global demand for the 2018 model has made the Ford Mustang the best-selling sports coupe in the world for the third consecutive year. Its prominent presence on social media, with the highest number of hashtags globally, proves that the passion for this iconic vehicle is stronger than ever among fans of all ages.
Ford Mustang Sales Statistics
Worldwide registrations of the Mustang reached a total of 125,809 vehicles in 2017, according to Ford's analysis of the most recent new vehicle registration data from IHS Markit. This data is collected from governments and other sources, representing 95% of new vehicle volumes globally across more than 80 countries, placing the Mustang ahead of all competing sports coupes worldwide.

Mustang Registrations in Markets
Among the approximately 126,000 vehicles registered worldwide, Ford indicates that 81,866 of these were registered in the United States, meaning that a third of Mustang registrations occurred in export markets. The Mustang GT with the 5.0-liter V8 engine is the most popular model globally.
Anniversary Celebrations
In celebration of the Mustang's popularity and to commemorate its 54th anniversary, Ford Middle East unveiled a stunning mosaic created from hundreds of photos submitted by regional Mustang enthusiasts, organized to form the iconic logo of the sports car. This exceptional innovation was presented for the first time in the region.
