
General Motors Completes Production of 130 Chevrolet Bolt EV Autonomous Test Vehicles
American automotive giant General Motors has announced the completion of 130 Chevrolet Bolt EV test vehicles at the Orion Assembly Plant in Michigan, following the US Independence Day celebrations. These vehicles are equipped with next-generation autonomous driving technology and are set to join more than 50 other self-driving electric vehicles currently being tested in San Francisco, Arizona, and Detroit.

Mary Barra, Chairman and CEO of General Motors, emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, "This production milestone brings us one step closer to realizing our vision of personal mobility. Expanding our global fleet ensures that our self-driving vehicles meet the same strict safety and quality standards as all our cars."

Industry-First: GM Manufactures Self-Driving Test Cars at Scale
After producing the first batch of Chevrolet Bolt EVs in January, General Motors has become the only company to assemble self-driving test vehicles at a mass production facility. The Bolt EVs are equipped with an advanced array of tools, including LIDAR cameras, sensors, and other devices designed to accelerate the development of safe, fully autonomous vehicles.

Extensive Testing Across the United States
General Motors engineers, along with the Cruise Automation team, have been testing the Chevrolet Bolt EVs equipped with autonomous driving technology on public roads in San Francisco and Scottsdale, Arizona since June 2016, and on the streets of Warren, Michigan since January 2017.
