World’s First Mass-Produced Fuel Cell Vehicle: The Hyundai Santa Fe
In 2013, Hyundai introduced the world’s first mass-produced FCEV—the Santa Fe Fuel Cell. This milestone not only marked the beginning of Hyundai’s fuel cell production era but also set a new benchmark for the automotive industry. Building on this legacy, Hyundai has integrated fuel cell technology into several models, including the NEXO, which is based on the FE Fuel Cell concept.

Fuel Cell Vision 2030: Hyundai’s Roadmap for a Hydrogen Society
In December 2018, Hyundai Motor unveiled its “Fuel Cell Vision 2030,” a long-term roadmap reflecting the brand’s unwavering dedication to accelerating the development of a hydrogen society. By 2030, Hyundai targets an annual production capacity of 700,000 fuel cell systems, not only for vehicles but also for non-automotive sectors such as ships, rail vehicles, drones, and power generators.
