The Design Transformation at Kia Motors

Kia Motors has significantly improved its design since the appointment of Peter Schreyer, the former designer at Audi. Consistently, Kia and Hyundai's designs have impressed us. This was further validated by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), which awarded Kia with International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in the transportation category for two vehicles: the Kia GT4 Stinger prototype and the 2014 Kia Soul. The Stinger received a silver award, while the Soul was honored with a bronze. Additionally, Kia earned a bronze award in 2012 for the Kia Rio.

International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA)

The IDEA award is a globally recognized accolade that honors outstanding design across various categories, including automotive and transportation, design strategy, entertainment technology, environments, and more. The 2014 event featured 2,000 participants from 39 countries, where each entry was assessed based on the following objective criteria:

  • Innovation
  • User and customer benefits
  • Sustainability
  • Aesthetics

Features of Kia Vehicles

The GT4 Stinger exemplifies Kia's approach to modern performance cars, targeting automotive enthusiasts. This rear-wheel-drive sports car is well-suited for both the track and the street, featuring a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that delivers 315 horsepower.

The Soul is a successful crossover that has garnered awards from Red Dot and iF for its innovative design in the urban passenger vehicle segment. Kia hopes to continue impressing consumers with its designs.
