If an exotic car maker is looking to break a record there is nothing better than the Nürburgring lap times. Things are getting intense between automakers as they are refining their cars as much as possible and now it’s all about who makes the fastest street-legal production car and now another exotic automaker is joining into the record setting race.
The Radical SR8 isn’t exactly street-legal, so the fastest time lap is currently set by the Porsche 918 Spyder at 6:57. McLaren claims the P1 managed to get to the 7 minute mark but the exact figures haven't yet been published. Koenigsegg says it can throw them both off the records.

According to Car and Driver, who had spoken to Christian von Koenigsegg himself while they visited the factory, the Swedish automaker will bring 2 versions of the Agera to the Nürburgring. First up to break the record will be the Agera R, which is a lot more powerful and lighter than the 918 Spyder, which makes them confident the Agera R can do it but they won’t be stopping there.
After they are done breaking the record with the Agera R, Koenigsegg aims to return with the One:1 and break even the Agera R’s set record; the predicted the lap time of under 6:40 for the One:1. Having 1,341 hp at disposal with even more downforce to offer, Koenigsegg is dead set on achieving its goals.
