Lamborghini Centenario: A Celebration of 100 Years of the Brand
2016 marks a significant year for Lamborghini, as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of its founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini. To commemorate this milestone, the company has unveiled a special edition model known as the Lamborghini Centenario.
Features of the Centenario
The Centenario is built on the chassis of the Aventador, yet it boasts a completely new and distinct design. This model showcases Lamborghini's new design language, akin to what was introduced with the Reventón.
Production Numbers and Pricing
Similar to previous special models, Lamborghini will produce a limited number of Centenarios—just 40 units in total, consisting of 20 coupes and 20 roadsters. Each will be priced at 1.75 million euros.
What's surprising? All units have already been sold! However, I am sure I will see some of them during the Gulf tour.
Engine Design and Technology
So, what exactly is the Centenario? According to Lamborghini, it is a blend of both classic and modern Lamborghini vehicles. The engine is a V12 derived from the Aventador, now enhanced to deliver 760 horsepower.
The V12 features all-wheel drive, similar to the Aventador. Notably, the entire body of the car is constructed from carbon fiber, resulting in a weight of 1.51 tons.
This model also marks Lamborghini's first vehicle equipped with rear-wheel steering and a touch-screen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay, complete with internet connectivity.
Vehicle Performance
The Centenario accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 350 km/h, similar to the Aventador. This performance further emphasizes its design as a tribute to the legacy of Lamborghini's founder.
