Lamborghini Urus SE: The Ultimate Plug-in Hybrid SUV

Lamborghini Urus SE: Unveiling the 789hp plug-in hybrid SUV with unmatched power & performance, setting new benchmarks in luxury car innovation.
The Urus has a special place in Lamborghini’s product portfolio. While the SUV has divided the opinion of enthusiasts, there's no denying that the Urus is Lamborghini’s best-selling model. Now, with the industry moving towards electrification, the Italian carmaker has updated its best-seller.
Electrifying Powerhouse: The Fusion of V8 and Hybrid Tech
Say hello to the Urus SE - the bold, brash SUV with plug-in hybrid V8 power. The powertrain comes from the Urus’ VW group sibling, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. The 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 produces 612 horsepower. Coupled with the electric motor packing 189hp, the Urus SE boasts a total of 789 horsepower and 950 Nm of torque. The 0-100kph time is just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 312 kph. Those are supercar numbers!

Supercar Performance: Acceleration, Speed, and Dynamic Capabilities
In terms of performance, the Urus SE is faster in all aspects compared to the S model, but the Performante still retains its crown as the fastest Urus.

The Urus SE’s 25.7-kWh lithium-ion battery is good for 37 miles of pure electric range, and yes, it can be driven in pure EV mode. Four additional driving modes are offered on top of the Strada, Sport, and Corsa modes (for road and track use), along with the Neve, Sabbia, and Terra modes. The “tamburo” selector unit placed in the center console now includes the EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge modes.
Evolution of Design
Not all the changes are made to the powertrain; the Urus SE also receives cosmetic upgrades. The front bumper and grill have been completely redesigned, and the headlight clusters feature matrix LED technology. The cluster has a brand-new light signature inspired by the tail of Lamborghini’s bull.

The entirely redesigned rear end draws inspiration from the Lamborghini Gallardo, achieving a more cohesive design. Gone are the disconnected lines; instead, sleek "Y" taillights flow seamlessly into a new rear diffuser. This element isn't purely cosmetic; it works in tandem with the new spoiler to generate 35% more rear downforce at high speeds compared to the Urus S, translating to enhanced stability during aggressive maneuvers.
Aerodynamic enhancements extend beyond the striking rear redesign. New under-body air vents and revamped air ducts work together to increase airflow for engine and mechanical component cooling by 15% compared to the original Urus. The front section also receives optimizations, resulting in a 30% improvement in airflow directed towards the braking system. These upgrades ensure optimal performance and component health in various driving scenarios, from navigating cityscapes to pushing limits on the track.
Driver-Centric Interior
Step inside and you will find a redesigned dashboard that prioritizes driver interaction. Lightweight materials, reminiscent of the Revuelto, further enhance the sense of agility.

A larger, 12.3-inch touchscreen takes center stage, featuring an updated Human Machine Interface (HMI) for intuitive control. The graphics align with the design language of the Revuelto, promoting a unified user experience. Lamborghini Centro Stile has meticulously crafted other interior elements: the Y-shaped anodized aluminum trim, new upholstery options for panels, seats, and the dashboard, and a mechanical pushbutton panel for a more tactile connection with the vehicle.
Technological Marvels
This pilot-centric experience extends to the digital displays. Both the 12.3-inch instrument cluster in front of the driver and the touchscreen integrate seamlessly. The Lamborghini Infotainment System (LIS) receives an upgrade, including a dedicated telemetry system for the SE and enhanced displays related to the driving assistance system, promoting better situational awareness.

“The underlying mission of the project was clear: to offer state-of-the-art performance combined with the uncompromising character typical of Lamborghini’s DNA,” commented Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr. “The Urus SE is positioned at the top of its class in terms of being fun to drive and for its driving dynamics. It’s a vehicle that harmoniously combines different qualities: absolute comfort and at the same time performance and fun-to-drive, ensuring an experience like no other.”
