1) In your opinion, have buyers returned to showrooms and if so, how would you describe sales performance during a traditionally busy period such as Ramadan?

Despite the challenges faced during the pandemic, we have seen people return to our showrooms as restrictions across the region have started to ease.

To cater to individuals who are still being cautious, and some markets still experiencing lockdowns, we are capitalising on an increasingly growing trend to purchase online by launching the INFINITI Configurator, enabling consumers to interact with our brand virtually – users can customise their new car and book at-home test drives seamlessly across devices at the click of a button. We have also installed this Configurator in nearly all showrooms to enhance the customer experience.

Through this integrated approach and seamless purchasing experience, our sales performance has been promising, especially during traditionally busy periods such as Ramadan.

2) How would you describe the buyer demographics for your brand and what steps are you taking to appeal to a larger audience?

We define our customers as ‘Progressive Challengers’: this is a mind-set, not a demographic. These are people who are not afraid to do things differently; they are curious, want to succeed and are culturally aware. Our customers are passionate about great design, performance and driver experience.

To enhance and broaden our appeal, we have a number of key launches ahead. The INFINITI QX55, due to arrive at the end of the year, is inspired by INFINITI FX heritage, with a sporty presence in a premium package. The QX55 was imagined for a younger, self-assured, confident driver who prioritizes design and style when looking to purchase a vehicle.

Additionally, the all-new 2022 INFINITI QX60 is ushering in a new era of design, drawing inspiration from INFINITI Japanese heritage. The QX60 is a three-row premium SUV that aims to celebrate and embrace artistry, while delivering on confidence-inspiring technology. Through its powerful proportions, Japanese tailoring and curated design features, this vehicle is an expression of modern luxury and appeals to a modern executive, likely a family person who appreciates premium quality and specifically seeks out comfort and convenience.

3) Currently, what is your best-selling model and why?

INFINITI flagship model is our full-size luxury SUV, the QX80. Designed to facilitate the ultimate premium driving experience, from its dynamic performance and technology, to the comfort and tranquility of its lavish interior, the QX80 continues to be the preferred model for discerning customers in the Middle East, accounting for 38% of all model sales in the first quarter of the year.

The 2021 INFINITI QX80, revealed in October last year, features the next generation INFINITI InTouch infotainment, Premium In-Vehicle-Infotainment (P-IVI) System with two HD display screens, 3D maps, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, in addition to a ‘Black Edition’ grade. This contributed to sales of the QX80 increasing by over 500 units in the first quarter of 2021, compared to the same period last year, retaining its popularity within the full-sized SUV segment.

The versatile premium crossover INFINITI QX50, which features the award-winning world’s first production Variable Compression Turbo engine, additionally remained a customer favorite in the region, accounting for 39% of all unit sales. The QX50 showed resilience in the region, with a 30% sales increase in the first quarter of 2021 compared to last year.

4) What is your take on electric vehicles and do you have plans of introducing any to the market?

Global electric vehicle sales, although growing, still represent less than 5% of automobile sales globally, and every market is moving at a different pace, based on regulatory support and infrastructure readiness. As a brand centralised on customer experience, INFINITI will be ready to deliver a range of technologies in response to what our customers are requesting.

5) Has the entrant of new Chinese automobiles in the market affected your brand or strategies in any way?

There are always new entrants coming into the market, and Chinese brands are no different as they begin to enter the premium space. We are always monitoring the competition, however our primary focus is on our customers and delivering a unique product and experience that is differentiated from others in the market.

6) Finally, what can you tell us about new models to expect in the near future?

INFINITI is on the cusp of a new generation of products with two new models in the SUV line-up, the all-new QX55 and QX60

The INFINITI QX55 is a provocative crossover coupe that pays homage to the iconic FX with a dynamic roofline. The all-new model will also feature INFINITI premium infotainment system with smartphone integration, BOSE audio as well as the brand’s award-winning Variable Compression Turbo engine with an all-wheel drive system.

The fully-redesigned 2022 INFINITI QX60 is set to arrive in-market early next year. The next generation 3-row SUV conveys a powerful stance through progressive design and versatility. This model combines its award-winning 3.5-liter V6 engine with all-new 9-speed automatic transmission and the most advanced Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive system for enhanced capability.

INFINITI newest offerings will further enhance its unique take on modern Japanese luxury through thoughtful hospitality and empowerment through technology.
