It is about time Mercedes agreed that their naming convention is too confusing in case of SUVs and it requires a change. With the advent of GLA – based on A-class, the next-gen M-Class will carry the new GLE badge when it goes on sale next year. This is a good move and helps customers understand what market segment that particular SUV is catering to. Soon, the GLK will be replaced with GLC and the range-topping GL will carry the GLS badge. Moreover, the SUV coupe Concept unveiled earlier will likely carry the GLE Coupe badge as it competes with the BMW X6. Only, the G-Wagen will retain its badge for now.
