Introduction
As the 47th National Day of the United Arab Emirates approaches on December 2, 2018, police forces across the country have issued statements regarding the necessary precautions to take while participating in the celebrations. They have announced that vehicle decorations not adhering to safety guidelines could result in fines of up to 2,000 AED, 23 black points, and the vehicle being impounded for up to 60 days.
Police Guidelines on Violations
The Ajman Police stated: "Drivers are prohibited from organizing their own car parades, horseback riding, or camel rides on the roads. Violators will face a fine of 500 AED, four black points, and a 15-day vehicle impoundment. Additionally, drivers who modify their engines or exhaust systems to increase speed or noise will be fined 2,000 AED and face 12 black points."
Violations and Fines During National Day
Here are the violations and fines to be aware of during National Day:
- 400 AED fine for decorations that cover the vehicle's license plate.
- 400 AED fine and 4 black points for obstructing traffic and not following road rules.
- 400 AED fine and 4 black points for causing disturbances on the road, including playing loud music.
- 500 AED fine for placing stickers on the vehicle without permission.
- 1,000 AED fine and 6 black points for littering from the vehicle.
- 1,500 AED fine for tinting windows beyond the allowed 50%.
