According to a report by Autocar, the Porsche 911 Dakar is set to make a comeback, possibly for the 2026 model year. The updated Dakar will feature the new T-Hybrid powertrain, which was first introduced in the Porsche 911 GTS of the 992.2-generation.

The T-Hybrid system combines a 3.6-liter flat-six engine with an electric turbocharger and a gearbox-mounted electric motor. This results in a significant power boost:
- 532 horsepower (up from 473 HP)
- 449 lb-ft of torque (up from 420 lb-ft)
- Electric motor adds 54 HP and 110 lb-ft of torque
