Hybrid Powertrain Upgrade for the 2026 Porsche 911 Dakar
According to a report by Autocar, the Porsche 911 Dakar is set to make a comeback, possibly for the 2026 model year. The updated Dakar will feature the new T-Hybrid powertrain, which was first introduced in the Porsche 911 GTS of the 992.2-generation.
Performance Enhancements with T-Hybrid System
The T-Hybrid system combines a 3.6-liter flat-six engine with an electric turbocharger and a gearbox-mounted electric motor. This results in a significant power boost:
- 532 horsepower (up from 473 HP)
- 449 lb-ft of torque (up from 420 lb-ft)
- Electric motor adds 54 HP and 110 lb-ft of torque
Design and Features

The new Porsche 911 Dakar will retain its signature rugged design with key features such as:
- Increased ride height for off-road capabilities
- Tougher front and rear bumpers for durability
- Eight-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive
Faster Acceleration and Improved Efficiency
The previous non-hybrid Dakar achieved 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. With the hybrid powertrain, the new model is expected to be even quicker. Additionally, the hybrid setup may contribute to a slight increase in fuel efficiency.
Expected Launch and Limited Availability
Autocar reports that the new Dakar could debut by the end of 2025. Similar to the previous version, this model will also be a limited-production vehicle. Porsche is expected to offer various customization options through its Sonderwunsch program.
Final Thoughts
The return of the Porsche 911 Dakar marks an exciting evolution in high-performance off-road sports cars. With increased power, improved efficiency, and signature rugged styling, the 2026 Dakar is set to redefine the segment once again.
