Infiniti QX80: Luxury Redefined in a 7-Seater SUV
Introduction
The first option that strikes one when they scout a bulletproof, reliable, luxurious, and a 7-seater SUV that can ‘go anywhere’ is the Nissan Patrol. Standing tall against other Japanese and American heavyweights, it has demonstrated its supremacy in its segment as the best bulbous SUV suited for the adventurous. However, brands continuously innovate and ideate new product development strategies. To elevate the best, Nissan turned its attention to its premium brand, Infiniti, launching the QX80, setting a quintessential example of luxury for those preferring an upscale model without the Nissan badge.
What stunned the audience was the exceedingly high quality of materials used for the seats, dashboard, and panels that exude flamboyance. To keep pace with contemporary SUVs, Infiniti is offering an improved version of the QX80 with several cosmetic and feature updates.
Design
Before exploring the updates, it’s important to note that the appearance remains largely unchanged from the outgoing model. The Infiniti grille creates an imposing stance, complemented by mean-looking headlamps, enormous wheel arches concealing the 22-inch rims, and a high shoulder line providing a commanding view of the road, minimizing the size of surrounding objects. The clean layout of the side profile and elongated roof rails contribute to its purposeful design. The rear features chrome accents, while LED inlays enhance the smart appearance of the taillamps.
Interior
The cabin of the QX80 is all about indulging in top-notch quality and fostering an obsession with luxury. The faux wood finish on the dashboard, combined with a beige color scheme, reaffirms and defines luxury, likely to be appreciated by consumers. The gloss black finish surrounding the dual infotainment screens and AC vents looks plush, especially when it reflects light.
A significant change is the silhouette of the screens. The previous cluster of buttons has been replaced with a second infotainment screen that provides access to various functions, creating a simplistic and futuristic look while eliminating the need for buttons.
Being the brand’s flagship, the QX80 boasts features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, ventilated seats, push-button start/stop, sunroof, leather seats, and advanced driver assistance features such as:
- Forward emergency braking
- Pedestrian detection
- Adaptive cruise control
- Blind spot warning
- Lane departure warning
- Automatic headlamps
- Auto-dimming mirrors
- Adaptive suspension for a smooth ride
Additional convenience features include a smart key that allows the car to be started from outside and a BOSE® 13-speaker sound system.
Engine Performance
To ensure there is plenty of torque on and off the road, the 5.6-litre V8 engine continues to perform admirably, offering 400 hp and 560 Nm of torque. Its 7-speed automatic transmission is designed to provide a seamless driving experience, allowing the car to propel forward with ease and generous pace.
These notable updates keep the QX80 fresh in the competitive market.
