Top SUVs from the 2017 Dubai Motor Show
The 2017 Dubai Motor Show showcased some of the most capable, powerful, and exciting SUVs on the planet. Out of the dozens, here are our picks of what we think were the most magnificent 4x4s.
2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio
The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is perhaps the most attractive SUV on this list. This model is a sculpted piece of performance art from one of Italy’s finest car brands. Making extensive use of lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio achieves a perfect 50/50 weight distribution over both axles.
Under the hood, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio houses a 2.9-liter, six-cylinder engine with two turbos, producing a potent 505 HP and 600 Nm of torque. Power is handled by a quick-shifting (150-millisecond shift time) 8-speed automatic gearbox, distributing power to all four wheels via Alfa’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system. Stopping power is provided by large carbon-ceramic discs.
In Race mode, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds, with a top speed of an impressive 285 km/h. The cabin features Italian leather, genuine wood, brushed aluminum, and Alcantara, creating a sporty layout with superior quality compared to other SUVs on this list.

2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST
The popularity of the Chevrolet Tahoe in the region is undeniable. The American carmaker is considering bringing over the Tahoe in its most aggressive form, the Tahoe RST (Rally Sport Truck), which features interesting modifications over the standard Tahoe.
The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 420 horsepower and 624 Nm of torque. Paired with Chevy’s 10-speed automatic transmission, it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6 seconds! With a towing capacity of up to 3.8 tons, achieving this sprint time is impressive. Though top speed remains unverified, it is expected to exceed 200 km/h.
While the RST’s appearance isn’t dramatically different from the standard Tahoe, it features massive 22-inch rims, Brembo performance brakes, a Borla exhaust system (adding 10 HP at the rear wheels), and black paint treatment instead of chrome. The interior remains nearly identical to that of the regular top-spec Tahoe.
2018 Dodge Durango SRT
The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is a powerful family SUV that comfortably seats six and weighs 2.5 tons. It is powered by a HEMI 6.4-liter V8 engine, delivering 475 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque.

With its sticky Pirelli Scorpions and ZF’s 8-speed autobox, the Durango SRT can reach 100 km/h in an astonishing 4.5 seconds. While Dodge has yet to release the official top speed, it is expected to surpass 220 km/h. Stopping power is provided by large 15-inch Brembo brakes, while stiffened adjustable dampers help maintain stability in corners.
The cabin of the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT has not undergone major redesigns, lacking a significant "wow" factor upon entry. Nonetheless, it is equipped with plenty of standard features and safety kits, and soft touchpoints are present at higher levels.
