Increase in Petrol Prices
Petrol prices in the UAE are set to rise by approximately 6% in June 2018, following a similar increase in May 2018. The price of Super 98 will increase to 2.63 AED per liter (up from 2.49 AED in May and 2.33 AED in April). Meanwhile, the price for Super 95 will rise to 2.51 AED (up from 2.37 AED in May and 2.22 AED in April). The price of diesel will also increase to 2.71 AED per liter, marking a significant rise from 2.56 AED in May and 2.40 AED in April.
Market Forecasts
Although prices are expected to remain volatile due to the end of OPEC's production cut agreement in March, this increase aligns with rising prices in international markets. Since the fuel price deregulation in 2015, the prices for June 2018 are at their highest levels to date.
According to Khalid Al-Falih, the Saudi Energy Minister, OPEC and its allies are likely to gradually increase oil production in the second half of the year, indicating a potential curb on price increases.
