Transformation of the Eastern Section of Umm Suqeim Street into a Highway
Project Details
The eastern section of Umm Suqeim Street, connecting Al Khail Road with Sheikh Zayed Road, will be transformed into a highway featuring service roads and two double overpasses with three lanes each.
Project Objectives
This highway will span 2.5 kilometers and is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, particularly for residents of Al Khail Road, Al Quoz, and Al Barsha, who currently endure long traffic jams.
Additional Information
According to Mitha Bin Adi, the Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority, work on the project commenced in September and is progressing steadily, with plans for it to be ready for public use by the end of this year.
She added that there will be service lanes on each side of the highway, in addition to five lanes on the main road, which will separate local traffic from the highway and help reduce congestion in the area.
