2026 Bentley Continental GT Supersports: 657 hp, RWD and the Lightest Continental Yet
Tags:

Bentley has re-introduced the “Supersports” badge and done so with a twist: rear-wheel drive only, a stripped-down feel, and a blue-blooded pure petrol V8. The result is the sharpest Continental GT in the range and arguably the most characterful. This is *the* halo car for Bentley.
Engine, Transmission & Performance
Under the bonnet sits a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 (no hybrid assist here) producing a stout 657 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. These are supercar figures!
That power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and through an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.

The performance figures are equally impressive: 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in around 3.7 seconds, and a top speed of 192 mph (310 km/h).
The shift away from all-wheel drive is significant as it reduces drivetrain complexity and weight (the car reportedly weighs under 4,409 lbs or about 2,000 kg) making the Supersports more nimble and committed.
Key technical highlights:
- Power: 657 hp from twin-turbo V8
- Torque: 590 lb-ft
- Drivetrain: Rear-wheel drive only
- Transmission: 8-speed dual-clutch
- 0-62 mph: ~3.7 s
- Top speed: ~192 mph
Chassis, Dynamics and Weight Reduction
The rear track has been widened, suspension and steering have been recalibrated, and the differential is now torque-vectoring. According to Bentley, lateral grip peaks at up to 1.3 g. Now that is a figure you would typically associate with far lighter sports cars.
A massive reduction in mass plays a critical role. By shedding more than 1,000 pounds compared to the GT Speed variant, Bentley has dramatically sharpened the car’s responsiveness. Carbon-fibre body elements, a titanium exhaust, fixed rear wing, and large forged 22-inch wheels all contribute to this effect.
Design & Aesthetic Changes
The front bumper gains the largest splitter ever fitted to a production Bentley, flanked by dive-planes at each corner to manage airflow. The rear has a dramatic diffuser and one-piece fixed rear spoiler that generates 661 pounds (!) of downforce.

Limited Production & Market Positioning
Want to buy one? Then you’ll have to be quick as Bentley says only 500 units of the Supersports will be built globally.
Order books open in March 2026, with production later that year. Pricing has not been officially announced, but given the specification and exclusivity, expect a significant premium over the standard Continental GT.

FAQs
Q: Is the new Continental GT Supersports a hybrid?
A: No. It returns to a pure internal‐combustion twin-turbo V8 layout, without hybrid assistance.
Q: Why rear-wheel drive only?
A: Bentley chose RWD to reduce weight and enhance driver engagement, marking a departure from the typical all-wheel drive setup.
Q: When will it arrive and how many will be made?
A: Production begins in 2026 with only 500 examples worldwide.
Q: Will this version replace the standard Continental GT?
A: No. It sits atop the lineup as the most performance-focused variant and does not replace the core GT models.
