Update on the Dubai Tram Project

Dubai Tram Project

Project Overview

Approximately five years ago, everyone heard about the tram (or Al Sufouh Tram) being constructed by Al Sufouh. However, due to the sudden global crisis, the project was postponed indefinitely.

Resumption of Work

Finally, work has resumed, and the team has continued building towards a new future for public transportation in Dubai. The first shipment of tram cars is expected to arrive in December this year.

Project Details

With a budget of approximately 3.18 billion dirhams, the first phase is set to be completed in the fall of next year. This phase will connect Dubai Marina to the Mall of the Emirates and link them to the Dubai Metro and Dubai Internet City.

Progress Made

Mattar Al Tayer, the Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority, revealed in a report that:

  • More than 50% of the project has been completed.
  • Approximately 90% of the tram depot, which is considered the most advanced work, has been finished.
