Introduction to the New Number Plate Design
As part of a new scheme introduced by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), number plates around the emirate are set to receive a facelift. Officials are requesting motorists to upgrade to the new design. Launched in 2014, the new design utilizes a combination of pink and blue hues, featuring the word “Dubai” in both English and Arabic to create an eye-catching appearance on the number plates.
Upgrade Requirements and Costs
In its recent public announcement, the RTA stated that:
- All car owners with owned registration number plates from A to Z are requested to upgrade to the new plate design.
- From May 2018, all car owners with unowned A, B, and C number plates must also upgrade.
Details regarding the costs for owned registered plates were not revealed. However, the costs for unowned plate holders of A, B, and C codes are minimal:
- Short-length plates: Dh35 per plate
- Longer plates: Dh50 per plate
