Porsche has formally hinted at the much-awaited all-electric Cayenne EV, which is coming in 2026. The teaser provides a sneak peek at a more aerodynamic body, sophisticated suspension technology, and remarkable real-world performance.
A Sharper, More Efficient Profile
The EV Cayenne owes its smoother profile to electric powertrains. Without the requirement of a heavy engine, the bonnet tapers smoothly into more aggressive LED headlights in line with Porsche's signature LED light-strip look. Intakes at the front are less prominent, and a lower suspension height hints at a drag coefficient much better than the present 0.34 - 0.35 figure, inching closer to competitors such as the EQE SUV with a Cd as low as 0.25.

At public testing on England's venerable Shelsley Walsh hill climb, Porsche's prototype broke the mold. Behind the wheel of the Cayenne EV was Porsche Formula E development driver Gabriela Jílková, and she posted a lap time of 31.28 seconds, besting the Bentley Bentayga Speed and even a Taycan Turbo Sport Turismo.
What's impressive is that it hit the 60-foot point in only 1.94 seconds, behavior more akin to single-seaters with Porsche accomplishing this feat using standard summer tires.
Active Suspension and Everyday Use
Porsche's Active Ride hydraulic suspension system - which debuts here - is central to its dynamic ability and ride quality. In addition to speed, the EV also showed serious capability in towing: carrying a 100‑year‑old classic car with trailer (approximately 3 tonnes) effortlessly, highlighting a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg (7,716 lb).
Platform, Power, and Range Potential
Drawing on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture common to the Macan EV and Audi Q6 e-Tron, the Cayenne EV will be capable of 800-volt fast charging (to ~270 kW). Dual-motor variants should have a similar output of about 470 kW (~630 hp) and over 500 km (310+ miles) WLTP range.
Some of the cabin will be echoing the Macan EV, with a widescreen instrument cluster, wide infotainment screen, and passenger touchscreen, balanced out with haptic controls for climate and media.
What's to Come
Look for a substantial reveal later this year, with the test car debuting at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Production Cayenne EV deliveries are anticipated in 2026.
